NCMA FELLOW RECOGNITION

The National Board of Directors of the NCMA established the category of NCMA Fellow in July 1966. The Fellow designation is reserved for individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of contracting and to the NCMA.  The fellow award is the NCMA's third-highest award.

Among the most popular responses to "why become a fellow?" are:

  • Personal and professional networking
  • To achieve a personal goal or desire
  • Recognition of peers, subordinates and supervisors of professional achievements
  • To be a resource for the Association (at the chapter, region or national level)

NCMA members who are approved by the Board of Directors to become Fellows of the Association are clearly members whose contributions have been significant and long-standing.  All Fellows are encouraged to participate as members of the Council of Fellows (COF). The COF is best described as "a self-governing body that serves as a 'corporate' resource available to support the national leadership; and the forum for the exchange of knowledge for the mutual benefit of the members."

ROLE OF THE NCMA FELLOW

Once achieving the designation of NCMA Fellow, what's a Fellow to do?  The overall goal is to encourage all fellows to be the keeper of the professional flame.  This lofty goal may be accomplished by:

  • Soliciting and writing articles for Contract Management and Contract Management Journal
  • Be speakers at chapter meetings, workshops, and seminars and national/regional conferences
  • Identify and recruit volunteers and Fellow prospects
  • Assist in membership recruitment and retention

CALL TO ACTION

As either a long-standing member of NCMA or someone who has achieved professional certification, the Battlefield Manassas Dulles Chapter leadership challenges you to review the Fellow application to determine if you have the 14 points necessary to achieve the designation of "NCMA Fellow."

If you have 14 or more points, GREAT!   Please take the time necessary to complete the application, gather the required documentation (see page 6 of the application), and send two copies to the Chapter Chair, Fellows Program.

If you fall short of 14 points, develop a plan.  The Chapter Chair, Fellows Program, is available to assist you in identifying additional opportunities to achieve Fellow application points.  There are numerous efforts that can be accomplished at the chapter, regional, or national level that can get you fellow points.

The Fellow application deadlines for the 2001 – 2002 program year are:
